Today I did some light sewing. GJ badge on my DAK jacket and redid the Eidelweiss on my Bergemutze as it was in the wrong location.

Cheers

...I replaced the shredded MG42 piston.
Trialing the FE "high speed" piston head with an all metal tooth piston. Despite being heavier, it does seem to cycle as fast, if not faster, than the old set up.
And makes more noise

Today I finally got round to fixing my mp40. Turns out the safety switch wasn't always closing properly and so the gun kept misfiring. Simple fix, removed the switch and surprise surprise, it works perfectly! Who needs a safety anyway?

Ralph

Today I had a great day skirmishing in my gj kit with John. Got a few nice compliments on the kit, though I do find people expect you to know what you're doing when wearing ww2 kit :D

Ralph

Not WW2 but just back from visiting the cockpit of the Vulcan Bomber at the RAF Museum, Hendon. Not cheap at £25 for 15mins but the opportunity to sit in the pilots seat and to go through the controls with someone who actually flew the thing was a massive privilege.

An amazing aircraft, even more amazing when you realise its first flight was only 11yrs after the Lancaster  that IS progress!

Love the vulcan, a truly beautiful aircraft. I'm very jealous you got sit in the cockpit and talk to a genuine vulcan pilot.

I wish this year wasn't xh558's last flying year...

Ralph

It's well worth doing - they open it for visitors one day a month, you book a time slot and along you go. Really, really recommend it :good:

Today I tried to fix the high pitched noise coming from my Zb26 gearbox, instead I accidentally snapped the air nozzle off! Bad times.

I've got a replacement nozzle on the way. I really didn't want to open up the gearbox again. It's a custom gearbox and is a real pita to get back together (I curse you, anti reversal latch!).

Ralph

Started molesting ICS Garand mags so they actually fit cartridge belts.
Whoever designed these mags really didn't care about wasted space :o

Today I tried on my new repro german browning holster... And the stitching on the holster came apart when I jammed my colt into it. Cheap repro methinks.

I think the Colt has slightly larger proportions than the Hi Power. If it was Browning as in FN 1910/22, those are much smaller.
